About LUBIRC

Lund University Biobased Industry Center brings together researchers leading the way in developing the knowledge and design needed for biobased alternatives to traditional industrial products and processes.

LUBIRC was founded at the beginning of 2014 by scientists at Lund University with the support of the University Board and Region Skåne. Since 2017, LUBIRC has been the university's Thematic Collaboration Initiative for Circular and Biobased Economy. At LUBIRC, we collect together researchers with wide-ranging knowledge of biobased products and processes from a variety of different departments and faculties, and connect with external partners working in industry. We work towards creating completely new products and processes, as well as replacing the raw materials used in current products and processes with biobased alternatives. Our goal is that our industrial partners will be able to use the results of LUBIRC’s activities in a commercially competitive, yet environmentally sustainable way.
